Family Fridays

We've always been a close-knit family. We love going everywhere together. And if the kids are anything like me, they've got a wealth of memories already locked away in their mental database. :)

Well, we're going to start a new tradition called Family Fridays. :) As long as my work schedule allows us to be a whole family on Fridays, we will use this time to do things that the kids have been wanting to do all week long, but time didn't allow us to get to it. So if that's playing a plethora of board games, we'll do it. If there's a particular movie they want to watch, we'll turn it into something even more - theater night (lights off, popcorn ready, candy in hand, and drink close by). If there's a Wii game the kids have been wanting to play as a family, we'll do that, too.

This will also mean a later bedtime for the kids. They'll love this, too. :)

We want to pass down some good family traditions to our children. And if Family Fridays is one of them, they'll know HOW. IMPORTANT. FAMILY. IS. when it comes to their own family time. :)

P.S. Family Friday will not take the place of all the other family things we do due during the week. Just had to throw that out there.

NOT computer savvy in the least

I am not computer savvy in the least bit. Honestly, electronics and I do not get along! :)

I'm on a search to learn how to change the template of my blog. I did notice that blogspot offers some blog layouts, but I want to be able to change my blog template that reflects the seasons. :) Oh - and I want to learn how to upload photos to my blog as well.

So ....

The search begins ................

P.S. If anybody knows how and wants to share, please do so. I'd REALLY appreciate it. :) THANKS! :)

Letting go ... of control ....

Sometimes in life we go through things that we're not sure why we have to go through them or even deal with them .... for extended periods of time. This is me.

It's funny how when life is going "smoothly" everything is a-okay. It's easy to pray. It's easy to worship God. Everything is just ... easier. But when trials come and linger, then we begin to question "God, I just don't get it. I don't understand." I've used that question. Oh - and this one: "How can things seemed to have been so right, but now they're so wrong?"

Well, I attended my first PWOC Bible study here in Las Vegas. Last time I attended PWOC was 2-3 years ago. Anyway, I got to talk with a dear sweet friend. I hold this woman in high-esteem as a Godly woman. Every time we talk, her speech blesses my heart. She KNOWS who the One is that cares for her; the One who has "her back"; the One who is there even when she, also, faces trials.

I took in our conversation on the drive home, as well as having a conversation with God. And He spoke these words to me, "Your frustration comes because you are not trusting Me." OUCH! Yep, there ya have it. Plain English. He said. It's definitely the TRUTH! So I talked some more with the LORD about this frustration and the lack thereof of trusting Him. I cried. If I just let go of this "wanting to be in control thing", everything will be less stressful and I won't be frustrated. If you can understand this, to me, EVEN trials are EASIER to go through when you're trusting in God to bring you through it, show you what you need to learn, etc. Seems easy enough. RIGHT?

Well, God said it. Now it's up it's up to me to do something about it. No, not the wanting to be in control, but the relinquishing the control to Him. After all, life is DEFINITELY better with Him in charge! :)

Sappy Romantic

So, last night we went out on a date. To me a date doesn't need to consist of any real special outing; it just needs to consist of my hubby and me, WITHOUT the kids. Anyway, we went to Wally World, grabbed some grub from Raising Canes, parked the truck in a bankparking lot overlooking the I-95, and ate our dinner and talked and talked. Romantic, huh? To me it was because it was with him! :) awww ......

BTW, I LOVE their sweet tea!!! Our home water isn't necessarily filtered or goes through some reverse osmosis, so we get to drink the nasty water of Las Vegas! Well, we do buy bottles and bottles of water every pay day because I just can't stomach their filth without it being colored by tea and a cup of sugar! I will or could (whichever comes first) pay $6+ dollars just so I can have some of their super awesome sweet tea, if this is what it's going to come down to. HA! Oh another BTW: Their tea reminds me of how mine tastes with the filtered/reverse osmosis water ... or just simply the water from Home-Sweet-Home (Iowa). :)

O.k. so where was I? Oh - right ... eating dinner with the love of my life. :) Anyway, we talked about the day, work, school, etc. And as we were talking, he said something *which I cannot disclose with y'all for fear of getting the evil eye* haha ... but he said something so hilariously funny that I laughed so hard I cried!!!

After a day in homeschooling like I had yesterday, crying from laughter was definitely a NEED!
